From May 14th to 17th, 2025, ABL members convened in Wroclaw, Poland, for the 48th ABL Conference, hosted at the Bridge Hotel Wroclaw by Szmyrka, Nawrat & Wspólnicy. This gathering brought together members from across the globe for an engaging program of professional exchange, market insights, and networking opportunities in one of Poland’s most dynamic cities.
We thank Szmyrka, Nawrat & Wspólnicy for their thorough preparation and warm hospitality. Their efforts ensured the success of our event, from logistics and session coordination to curated social activities.
The keynote address was delivered by Rafał Dutkiewicz, former Mayor of Wroclaw and current President of the Employers of Poland. He spoke about leadership and urban development, sharing lessons from his experience in public administration and private sector collaboration.
The speaker lineup provided a comprehensive look at Poland’s current business and innovation landscape:
Mateusz Jarzombek, Director of the Business Support Centre, presented Wroclaw: A City of Talents, Innovations, and Collaboration, offering concrete examples of how the city attracts and supports business development.
Alessandro Saglio, President of Cofindustria Poland, gave a targeted presentation on Navigating the Polish Market: Opportunities and Challenges for Italian Manufacturing, highlighting practical business considerations.
Piotr Orzechowski, CEO and Founder of Infermedica, led a session titled AI Transformation in Healthcare and Beyond: Risks & Opportunities, discussing how AI is reshaping service delivery and risk models in healthcare and other sectors.
Bartosz Majewski, Angel Investor and Entrepreneur, joined by Lucjan Suski, CEO and Co-founder of Surferseo, and Margaret Sikora, CEO of Woodpecker.co, shared their perspectives in Is Poland the Next Hotspot for Startup Innovation?, exploring funding, scaling, and talent in Poland’s tech ecosystem.
Maciej Żurowski, Director for Central and Eastern Europe at L.E.K. Consulting, spoke on Attractiveness of the Polish Market for Foreign Investors, offering macro and micro-level insights into investor behavior and local conditions.
Dariusz Szewczyk, Chief Technologist and President of ICS Industrial Complete Solutions S.A., presented Poland’s Climate, Energy and Economic Transformation – Where Are We and Where Are We Headed?, addressing Poland’s energy transition and its economic implications.
Tomasz Nietubyć, entrepreneur and investor, spoke about How Foreign Capital Can Leverage Polish Investment Realities, outlining how investors can achieve strong returns within the local business framework.
Olimpia Malik and Martyna Rutkowska, psychology students at the University of Wroclaw and members of Nokia Poland’s DEI team, led a session titled Stereotypes about Young Workers in the Labor Market and Their Causes, offering a generational and academic perspective on workplace culture.
Our Inside ABL session featured member presentations focused on cross-border legal issues, planning, and jurisdictional opportunities:
Arshoo Singh, Warners Solicitors, United Kingdom, presented Success Needs Planning – Cross Border Tax and Succession Planning for Business Clients, addressing complex planning scenarios for international clients.
Giulio Sammut, David Zahra & Associates, Malta, spoke on Malta: A Premier Jurisdiction for Wealth Management & Investment Structures, sharing regulatory and practical insights on structuring solutions.
Masako Banno, Okuno Partners, Japan, presented Recent Trends and Key Legal Considerations for Online Service Businesses of Global/Japanese Clients, providing legal guidance for digital and cross-border service models.
